Author Guidelines

1. General Information

The JANOLI International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Applications welcome original research articles, review papers, technical papers, case studies, and other scholarly contributions within the journal's scope.

Manuscripts and supplementary materials should be submitted electronically through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) submission platform. Authors should use the journal's designated online submission system for uploading manuscripts, responding to editorial queries, and tracking the progress of their submissions.

Only registered users can submit manuscripts through the OJS platform. New authors should create an account using the Register option, while existing users may access the system through the Login option.

For technical difficulties related to online submission, authors may contact the journal's editorial or technical support team through the official contact address provided on the journal website.

Authors are encouraged to use the official JANOLI MS Word Manuscript Template, where available, to ensure consistency in formatting and to facilitate the editorial and peer-review process.

 

2. Author and Corresponding Author Responsibilities

All authors are expected to make a genuine and significant contribution to the research and to accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.

For manuscripts with more than one author, a Corresponding Author must be designated at the time of submission.

The Corresponding Author is responsible for:

• Coordinating communication between the authors and the editorial office.

• Submitting the manuscript and all required supplementary files.

• Responding to editorial and reviewer communications.

• Coordinating revisions and ensuring that the revised manuscript is approved by all authors.

• Providing clarifications or corrections requested before or after publication.

• Communicating any changes in authorship or manuscript information to the Editor.

• Ensuring that all authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.

Authors are responsible for providing accurate and complete personal and professional information. Author information should normally include:

• Full name

• Academic or professional designation

• Institutional affiliation

• Department, school, or research centre

• Institutional email address

• ORCID iD, where available

• Relevant academic or professional credentials

Authors should ensure that names, affiliations, and other biographical information are entered accurately in the OJS system and in the manuscript.

 

3. Before Submission

Authors should carefully review their manuscript before submission and ensure that it is complete, grammatically sound, technically accurate, and consistent with the journal's editorial requirements.

Before submitting, authors should verify that the manuscript:

3.1 Fits the Journal's Scope

The research should be relevant to artificial intelligence, its theoretical foundations, technologies, methodologies, applications, or related interdisciplinary areas covered by JANOLI International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Applications.

3.2 Meets Manuscript Preparation Requirements

Authors must follow the journal's prescribed requirements concerning:

• Manuscript structure

• Page layout and formatting

• Title and author information

• Abstract and keywords

• Headings and subheadings

• Figures and tables

• Mathematical equations

• In-text citations

• Reference formatting

• Supplementary material

• Ethical and research declarations

3.3 Original and Scientific Manuscripts Sound

Authors should ensure that the manuscript presents original work and that the research methodology, analysis, results, and conclusions are adequately described and supported by appropriate evidence.

For artificial intelligence research, authors are encouraged to provide sufficient methodological detail to support reproducibility, including, where applicable:

• Dataset descriptions and sources

• Data-preprocessing procedures

• Model or algorithm specifications

• Experimental settings

• Hyperparameters

• Evaluation metrics

• Baseline methods

• Hardware or software environment

• Statistical or validation procedures

Where datasets, source code, models, or other research resources can be shared responsibly, authors are encouraged to provide appropriate access information.

3.4 Check Language and Presentation

The manuscript should be carefully proofread before submission. Authors should correct grammatical, spelling, typographical, formatting, and citation errors.

Manuscripts should use clear, precise, and academically appropriate language.

3.5 Copyright and Third-Party Material

Authors must obtain appropriate permission to reproduce copyrighted figures, photographs, diagrams, datasets, tables, or other materials belonging to third parties.

Where material is reused under an open or Creative Commons licence, authors should comply with the conditions of that licence and provide appropriate attribution.

 

4. Files Required for Submission

In addition to the main manuscript, authors may be required to submit supporting documents, depending on the nature of the manuscript and the journal's requirements.

These may include:

• Manuscript file

• Cover letter

• Figures and tables, where submitted separately

• Supplementary datasets or materials, where applicable

• Ethical approval or consent documentation, where applicable

• Conflict-of-interest declaration

• Funding statement

• Data availability statement

• Author contribution statement

• Copyright or permission documentation, where required

Authors should ensure that all required files are complete and correctly identified before finalizing the submission.

 

5. Cover Letter

Where required, the Cover Letter should accompany the manuscript and provide concise information about the submission.

The Cover Letter should normally include:

• Title of the manuscript

• Article type

• A brief description of the research and its contribution

• Statement confirming that the manuscript is original

• Confirmation that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere

• Disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest

• Relevant ethical or regulatory information, where applicable

• Any additional information that the authors believe should be brought to the Editor's attention

The Corresponding Author should ensure that the information provided in the Cover Letter is accurate and that all authors have approved its contents.

 

6. Research Integrity, Ethics, and Responsible AI

Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct of the research reported in their manuscripts.

Research involving human participants, personal data, sensitive datasets, or other regulated materials must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional or regulatory requirements.

For research involving artificial intelligence and machine learning, authors should also consider and appropriately disclose relevant issues concerning:

• Data privacy and protection

• Algorithmic bias and fairness

• Transparency and explainability

• Responsible use of AI

• Reproducibility

• Data provenance

• Model limitations

• Potential misuse or harmful applications

• Security and robustness, where relevant

Where AI-based tools have been used in the preparation, analysis, coding, or development of the research, authors should provide appropriate disclosure in accordance with the journal's policies.

Authors must not fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or misrepresent research data, results, images, references, or other scholarly information.

 

7. Authorship and Originality

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research and who accept responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

All listed authors should have:

• Contributed substantially to the work;

• Participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript;

• Approved the final version; and

• Agreed to be accountable for the work.

The addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission should not be made without appropriate justification and approval in accordance with the journal's authorship policy.

The manuscript must not contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, substantial self-plagiarism, fabricated data, falsified results, or inappropriate manipulation of references.

 

8. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

If no competing interests exist, authors should provide an appropriate declaration stating that there are no conflicts of interest.

 

9. Funding and Data Availability

Authors should disclose all sources of financial or institutional support received for the research.

Where applicable, manuscripts should include a statement describing the availability of:

• Research datasets

• Source code

• Algorithms

• Models

• Experimental materials

• Other resources necessary to understand or reproduce the research

Any restrictions on data or code availability should be clearly explained.

 

10. After Submission

Upon successful submission, the Corresponding Author will receive an electronic confirmation.

The manuscript will then proceed through the journal's editorial workflow, which may include the following stages:

1. Initial Editorial Screening
   The Editor or editorial team evaluates the manuscript for scope, originality, basic quality, completeness, and compliance with submission requirements.

2. Plagiarism and Research Integrity Checks
   Where applicable, the manuscript may be screened using appropriate tools and editorial procedures.

3. Peer Review
   Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment may be sent for external peer review in accordance with the journal's peer-review policy.

4. Editorial Decision
   Based on the editorial assessment and reviewers' recommendations, the manuscript may be accepted, rejected, or returned to the authors for revision.

5. Revision
   Authors may be required to respond to reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript within the specified timeframe.

6. Final Acceptance and Production
   Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, formatting, proofreading, and publication preparation.

The editorial office may request additional information or documentation at any stage of the publication process.

 

11. Open Access, Copyright, and Licensing

JANOLI International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Applications is committed to making scholarly research widely accessible.

Articles may be published under an appropriate Creative Commons licence, as specified by the journal's current copyright and licensing policy.

Authors should carefully review the applicable licensing terms before publication and ensure that they have the necessary rights to all third-party content included in their manuscript.
